When we tallied our download numbers for 2016, we were expecting some growth over the 2015 totals. What we weren’t expecting was an increase of over 2 million downloads, an increase of 33%. Sheesh!

2016 was our tenth full year of podcasting Scott Sigler Audiobooks, and it was a doozy. During the year, we lost steam with our regular FridayFix podcasts and decided to close end that show’s long run. We then added our latest offering, StorySmack, in December of 2016, so while that helped our numbers some it was too late in the year to make a significant difference.

The real growth came from both our weekly audiobook episodes and our “back catalog” of completed books. The weekly installment of Scott Sigler Audiobooks notched 3,885,664 downloads in 2016, up a whopping 51% from 2015. Our back catalog of books, all available with one-click subscription from iTunes (just search the iTunes store for “Scott Sigler”), had 4,349,072 downloads in the year, up 19.6% from 2015.

We’re thrilled about this. Our goal is to deliver great entertainment every Sunday, and it’s rewarding to see that — even 10 years in — more people are tuning in. We love ya!

MP3s, the individual audio files delivered by podcast.

DID YOU DOWNLOAD 8 MILLION FREAKIN’ BOOKS?
No, not even close. Each “back catalog” book has anywhere from 12 to 35 episodes, so when thousands of listeners download books the numbers add up fast. But don’t doubt that our numbers are pretty damn impressive.

WHAT’S WITH THE DIPS IN 2010 & 2011
Those were the first years we had to pull some back catalog titles because the books were coming out from Random House. We had to pull INFECTION (which became INFECTED) and ANCESTOR. Those were our most-popular titles, so those missing downloads added up big-time.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN IN 2017?
We think we’ll set a new record, maybe even hit 10 million total downloads. We’re excited to bring you books in all forms: eBooks, audiobooks, hardcovers, paperback and, yes, as serialized podcasts.
